We've tried hard to make the species pages in CATE Araceae look just like a page in a monograph, or flora, but beneath these pages is a structured database.
This allows you to query the data in many ways. Each of the data types listed on the left hand side under "Explore" can be queried. The most useful entries are Accepted Names and Synonyms and Descriptions, but you can also query other types of data such as the list of authors, and the bibliography.

The simplest way to search is to use the free-text query at the top of the page (it says: "Enter terms to search by"). By default, it will search for records which contain one term or another (e.g. Anthurium or Croat), but you can combine terms using either AND which will require that both terms are present, or enclosing a phrase in quotes ("Arum maculatum") which will require one word after another. You can even use question-marks ('?') as a single-character wildcard, or an asterisk ('*') as a one-or-more character wildcard.
Try some of these out:
Anthurium AND Croat returns all of the taxa which are in the genus Anthurium and include Croat as either a basionym or combining author
Aglao* returns both Aglaodorum and Aglaonema
You can even search the text of the descriptions
